Meet the ITA Session Speaker

Scott Keniston

About the Speaker

Scott has 20 years’ experience working with government and the private sector, to procure, award and deliver the largest tunnel road, rail and water projects in the Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

This experience has led to a focus on applying better procurement practice, including promoting early and informed discussion on technical specifications and current EIS/EES (environmental/planning) criteria, between project stakeholders. Scott is currently focused on improving the affordability of underground civil infrastructure, using tunnel specific 5D BIM software. This connects CAD design/geology and GIS layers, in an automated fashion with excavation and support resources/rules, delivering a complex schedule and first principles cost estimate.

Prior experience includes major tunnel D&C roles from Tender Lead through to Engineering Manager on multi-billion dollar projects, complemented by government infrastructure advisory roles on more than 20 projects in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

About the ITA Session

ITA Building Information Modelling in Tunnels Workshop

The ITA recognises the importance of BIM and the rapidly changing manner in which the creation and management of a real time, consolidated 3D/4D or 5D information model can allow best-possible project decision making before costs are incurred. These models are now much more than 3D animation, but intelligent constructs with embedded information that can be shared between stakeholders throughout an organisation, with the possibility to provide significant benefit in each phase of a tunnel project lifecycle.

The workshop will focus on current trends in the application of BIM technology to tunnelling, to allow teams to reduce direct costs, improve efficiency and reduce risk. Presentations being delivered by design, construction and project professionals and are not aligned with particular software.
